Alice M. Silha

Alice M. Silha, 86, of La Crosse, died on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 in her home. She was born on November 30, 1930 in Middle Ridge, WI to Joseph and Marie (Antony) Kaiser. She married Robert Silha on June 6, 1949 in St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Middle Ridge. Alice worked as a cook at the Ridgeview Inn and Lakeview Health Center. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, her country home, going for rides, and was a woman of strong faith. She was loved by so many and leaves her family as her legacy.
Alice is survived by eight children, Sally (Paul) Gerke, Larry (Diane) Silha, Maxine (Jim) Strong, Randy Silha, Kenneth (Paula) Silha, Jolene (Dennis) DeMaiffe, Bill (Julie) Silha, and Theresa Rose (Mike) Lewis, 18 grandchildren, Michelle (Tom) Dolan, Terry (Rachel) Gerke, Brad (Betsy) Gerke, Melissa (Chris) Taylor, Robert (Kate) Silha, Katie (Matt) Kuick, Mike (AnnMarie) Strong, Justin (Kari) Strong, Weston, Wyatt, Walker and Wrenna Silha, Sam and Ted Silha, Dawn (Jeremy) Burns, Dale and Ben Silha, and Tyler Lewis, 17 great grandchildren, two sisters, Loretta Servais and Nancy Kaiser, brothers and sisters-in-law, LaVerne Schaller, Eunice Kaiser, Esther Silha, and Sis (Roger) Running, and many nieces, nephews and godchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert in 1969, a daughter-in-law Patricia in 2005, her parents, her father and mother-in-law Frank and Delia Silha, brothers and sisters, Bernice (John) Mashak, Cletus (Lillian) Kaiser, Harriet (Charlie) Nicol, Rosie Schaller, Richard (Carole) Kaiser, Mary Ann (Val) Hilby, Jerry Kaiser, and infant brother Joseph, brothers and sisters-in-law, Jerome Servais, Janet (Arnold) Mlsna, Shirley Mae (Clarence) Leis and Frank Silha, and special friend Mahlon Arentz.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, St. Joseph Ridge. Rev. Timothy J. Welles will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Monday from 4:00 – 7:30 PM, with a Rosary being recited at 7:30 PM, and again on Tuesday from 9:00 AM until the time of services.
