Dale Arthur Ebner

Dale Arthur Ebner, 79, of La Crescent, Minnesota passed away just two days short of his 80th birthday on Friday December 16, 2016 at Bethany Riverside Care Center in La Crosse. He was born in La Crosse on December 18, 1936 to Arthur and Viola (Larson) Ebner. He graduated from La Crosse Central High School in 1955 and on August 31, 1957 married Anahmarie Voss, his high school sweetheart, at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in La Crosse. Dale retired as the head lockmaster at Lock 6 in Trempealeau, WI with the US Army Corps of Engineers in 2001 after 36 of years of service for the Corps. For a number of years Dale also owned his own business, Ebner Flooring & Tile. Dale was also a volunteer fire-fighter with the Holmen Fire Department and Rescue Squad for many years.
Dale was drawn to anything on wheels from a young age; he used his paper route money to purchase his first motorcycle. From there his collection grew, as did his passion and knowledge. From repair and restoration to touring, he did it all, and he was a community expert consulted for many creative endeavors.
Dale’s creativity and passion for life-long learning filled his time (and his garage!). His interests outside of motorcycles included small engines, computers, hunting, fishing, drawing, and spending time with friends and family. He had a quick wit and natural curiosity, which led him to take many vocational and community education courses.
Dale is survived by his three children, Debra (Mark) White, David (Teresa O’Donnell) Ebner, all of La Crescent, and Dena (Michael) Mundy of Rochester; grandchildren Maria (Ryan) Henry, Aaron and Anna White, Steven (Fiancée Mercedes) Ebner, Kim (Neil) Marshall and Jacob Nichols, Abigail Mundy and Samantha (Justin) Cole; and two great-granddaughters Emma and Kenley Ann. He is also survived by his siblings Marilyn Klos, Irene Hilleshiem, Karen (Paul) Levendoski, Ken (Pat) Ebner, and Linda (Larry) Platz.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Anahmarie, his parents, and in-laws, Walter and Anna Voss, Russ Klos, Gerald Hilleshiem, Ray and Audree Voss, and Marlyn and Annie Voss.
Funeral services will be held at 11a.m. on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in La Crescent. Pastors Michael Woods and Kent Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in the Prince of Peace Cemetery, rural La Crescent. Visitation for friends and family will be at the Church from 9 a.m. until the time of services.
Dale’s family would like to thank the staff at Gundersen Health System, especially Dr. David Momont and the care teams of Bethany Homes. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred and will be donated in Dale’s honor. Mom called dad home for his birthday!
