Martha Martin

Martha “Purts” Martin, 85, of Holmen passed away Sunday, December 11, 2016. She was born on October 24, 1931 in Fayette, Pennsylvania to Michael and Sophia Donavich. She grew up in rural Western Pennsylvania. She attended school to become a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) and served in healthcare setting until retiring. Martha married James W. Martin on September 23, 1952. They lived in Upper Middletown, PA, Kansas City, MO, Chicago, IL, Aurora, IL, and finally built a retirement home in Holmen, WI. Martha and James shared 55 wonderful years together until James passed away in 2008. Martha enjoyed running into her sixties, then walking, quilting, and spending time with friends and family.
She is survived by her two loving children, Deborah (Mitch) Cholewa and James (Dianna) Martin. She is further survived by four grandchildren, Vincent (Bianca) Cholewa, Tyler, Andrew, and Rachel Martin, and a great granddaughter, Aubrielle Cholewa. She will join James at their final resting place in the Halfway Creek Lutheran Church Cemetery. A celebration of Martha’s life will take place at a later date. Memories of her and what we learned from her will live on in each of our lives.
