Therese Marie Trussoni, 84 of Genoa, WI died Wednesday, December 7, 2016 in her home, surrounded by her family. She was born December 28, 1931 in La Crosse to Matthew and Angeline (Gianoli) Monti. She attended St. Charles Catholic Grade School in Genoa and graduated from Aquinas High School in La Crosse in 1949. Therese grew up in Genoa with her family who owned the Monti Hotel and Bar. She told many stories of her duties cooking, cleaning, and waitressing for the countless fisherman that stayed. Therese married Adolph Trussoni on April 26, 1952 at St. Charles Catholic Church in Genoa, where she was a lifetime member. They were married 62 years when Adolph passed in 2014. The love and faith they had was shared with all, often in the form of prayers during their nightly rosary recital, which Therese was sure to continue even after the loss of Adolph.
Therese’s true calling in life was to be a wife and mother. She was very proud of her large family for whom she spent much of her time sewing, popping popcorn, baking bread, and cooking numerous meals, which if lucky, would include her famous yellow rice. No matter what time a visitor arrived, a meal or a cookie or two or three or more, was offered multiple times. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren meant the world to her, and she held a special place in her heart for them and their hugs. She spent many hours doing puzzles and playing cards. Her favorite games included Solitaire, Euchre, Five Hundred, and Spite and Malice and she always said “I don’t care if I win or lose”, she just enjoyed playing. Her beautiful smile and giggle were contagious.
Therese and Adolph farmed the home farm until 1980. She and Adolph then moved to the village of Genoa in 1984, selling the farm to their son Arnold.
Therese is survived by her fourteen children; Deborah (Norman R.) Crater of La Crosse, William (Rose) Trussoni of Stoddard, Mary (Jerry) Rethwisch of Farmington, MN, Patricia (Frank) Tudahl of La Crosse, Robert (Monica) Trussoni of Marshfield, WI, Jeannette (Tom) Roberts of South Wayne, WI, Arnold (Tama) Trussoni of Genoa, Ronald (Cindy) Trussoni of La Crosse, Dorothy (Duane) Fry of La Crosse, Diane (Donald) Rauch of Woodbury, MN, Donna (Larry) Mikshowsky of Bangor, Susanne Trussoni of Holmen, Kathleen (Greg) Tully of Genoa, Carmela Trussoni of Genoa; 43 grandchildren, 57 great-grandchildren and 5 more on the way… all because two people fell in love; brother, Rev. Robert Monti of Fort Lauderdale, FL; sister-in-law, Bernadine Colling of La Crosse; brother-in-law, Richard (Sandra) Trussoni of La Crosse; along with many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Adolph, her parents; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Kathryn (Philip) Malin, Mary Jane (Chester) Bente; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Jeanne (Jim) Belke; brother-in-law Joseph Colling.

William Dhein (homilist) and Rev Aruldoss Sundaram. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. There will also be visitation at the church from 10:00 AM until Mass begins. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. Charles Catholic Church.
