Bernice Polus

Bernice Polus, 81 of La Crosse, passed away on Thursday, November 17, 2016 at Hillview Health Care Center in La Crosse after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Lookout, Wis., on April 4, 1935 to Gilbert and Gladys (Abrahamson) Julson. She married Roger A. Polus on September 26, 1953. They had five children and were blessed with twelve grandchildren, twenty nine great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
Bernice was a hard working, loving person who always said, “There’s always room for one more at the table.” Bernice loved to travel, cook and gamble but loved her family and friends the most.
Bernice will be met at Heaven’s gate by her husband Roger, sons Wayne and Steve, Brothers La Verne, Gordon and Sam, one sister Lucille and sister in law Tracey.
She will be sadly missed by her son Douglas (Kathie) Polus, daughters Marsha (Frank) Becker and Debra (Bruce) Erickson, sister Florence (Ed) Lyga, sister in law Marion Julson, daughter in law Tracy Polus, all her grandchildren, great and great great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11am on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services La Crosse chapel; 200 West Ave. So. Private burial will take place in St. Mary’s Cemetery; Winona, Minn. Friends may call on the family Tuesday morning at the funeral home from 10am until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
