Carol J. Blank

Carol Jean Blank, 85, of La Crosse passed away Friday, November 18, 2016, at Hillview Healthcare Center, La Crosse.
Carol was born January 17, 1931 in La Crosse to Frederick and Inger (Julson) Genz. She graduated from Logan High School in 1949. On June 18, 1949, she married her beloved husband Donald G. Blank and together they had three children, Donald S. Blank of Spring Hill, FL, Jeffrey (Judy) Blank of La Crosse, James (Lynne) Blank of West Salem; seven grandchildren, Chad (Rebecca) Blank, Abby (Thad) Glick, Cody (Cassie) Blank, Leigha (Jeffrey) Saxton, Calli Blank, Ethan and Nora Blank; and six great-grandchildren, Sydney and Chase Blank, Kaden, Kolton and Konnor Glick, and Cataleya Blank. She is further survived by daughter-in-law Barbara Blank, sister-in-law Marilyn (Howard) Mahlum and many adored nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and five brothers, Orville (Ann), Donald, Robert, Frederick Jr. (Rinky), Richard (Kathy).
Carol was employed 22 years at Century Tel of La Crosse as a Customer Service Advocate for the hearing and visually impaired. She was active in her church, community and Big Brothers Big Sisters mentoring program. She cherished her husband of 67 years. Up until her final moments, Don never left her side. Her family and friends were her pride and joy. Carol was known for her contagious smile and fun-loving personality.
The family would like to thank the nursing staff at Hillview for the loving care they provided to Carol and Don during her stay.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 400 West Ave. S., La Crosse. Pastor Richard Pamperin will officiate. Burial will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery in La Crosse. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 9:30 AM until the time of service.
