Born in the very Dutch town of Zeeland, Michigan on February 16, 1937 to Jacoba (Janet) and Herman Tyink. Dave developed his love of all things mechanical and gained his strong work ethic and impeccable honesty from his loving parents.
Known as a small talk enthusiast, accomplished chauffeur, long serving Scout Master and Wooden Boat Builder (the family’s traditional trade). Dave never missed a chance to fix an ailing machine, be present at a tractor pull or attend a barbershop afterglow.
A tall, handsome man always well-groomed due to his lifelong love Carole. Together they raised three children, Steve (Peri), Scott (Catherine) and Christine (Doug) whom he taught how to drive a stick, blow the perfect smoke ring, and tie a full Windsor knot. His few regrets were never finishing his Bradley GTII kit car and buying an AMC Pacer.
We will miss Dave’s ‘squeeze the stuffing out of you’ hugs, tender heart, and adventurous soul. He was always up for a Heineken, walk with his dog Molly or cross country trips in the RV.
Dave’s six grandchildren; Alex (Erin), Stephanie, Lauren, Andrew, Layne and Austin will forever remember their grandfather and their enjoyment of the canary yellow Karmann Ghia.
What you realize when you lose a great man like Dave is that every person has a unique combination of gifts to offer the world. The fleet has set sail to new shores with Dave "The Flying Dutchman" at the helm. Godspeed David Herman Tyink, Godspeed.
