Allen L. Peterson

Allen L. Peterson, 74 of La Crosse, died on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at Gundersen Health System of La Crosse. He was born in Taylor, Wis., on October 27, 1941 to Wilfred and Olga (Knutson) Peterson.
Al was a Blair-Taylor High School graduate. From there he enlisted and served in the United States Air Force, traveled all over the world and received an honorable discharge. He then moved to La Crosse where he met and married Betty Hoffman and they had four daughters. They later divorced but always remained very close. Al was an avid Badger, Brewers and Packer fan. He had a passion for bowling and was on many leagues for many years. He enjoyed getting together and playing cards with his buddies. Al loved camping with his daughters, family and friends, being “in charge” of the big bonfires while sitting around the fire listening to oldies music. Allen is survived by 4 daughters, Paula (Dan) Clark, Penny Lowrey (David Wieland), Peggy (Nich) West, Patty (Scott) Peterson. 14 grandkids; Crystal (Phillip), Kristi (Bob), Amber (Nathan), Ceaira, Ryan (Jessica), Brad, Danny, Brittany, Travis, Brianna, Cody, Cassidy, Courtney and Logan. 11 1/2 great grandkids, one sister Opal, one nephew, 3 nieces and many great nephews, nieces, his favorite Aunt Helen, his dear friends at one of his favorite spots “Vicks”, not to mention all the precious friends he has made along the way. Allen was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Rodger and Ardel; one sister Olga, and a nephew. “Fly High Dad. Always and Forever in our hearts.”
Funeral services with military honors provided by American Legion Post 52 will be held at 11am on Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services of La Crosse; 200 West Ave. So. Private family burial at Woodlawn Cemetery will take place at a later date. Friends may call on the family Monday evening at the funeral home from 5 until 7pm and again on Tuesday from 10am until the time of services.
