Joan H Davis

Joan H. Davis, 89, of La Crosse passed away on October 13, 2016 at the Onalaska Care Center in Onalaska, Wisconsin. She was born on March 13, 1927 in La Crosse to Joseph P. and Anna E. (North) Davis.
Joan grew up in La Crosse and attended Washington Grade School and graduated from Central High School in 1945. After high school, she attended WWTC and UWL in La Crosse. She taught Secretarial Science and Typing Classes at WWTC in La Crosse from 1966 to 1971.
Joan worked for G. Heileman Brewery, Gateway Grocery, Trane Company, First Presbyterian Church, UWL and Members Financial Services Center at Trane Federal Credit Union.
Joan volunteered 7,000 hours at Gundersen Health System over the years. She was President of the Gundersen Auxiliary and Coordinator of the Gundersen Gift Shop. She worked funeral lunches and assembled bulletins, sang in the choir and taught Sunday School at Christ Episcopal Church.
Joan is survived by her sister, Marion J. Fuchs of La Crosse, many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph P. and Anna E. Davis, a brother George L. Davis, four sisters, Elizabeth L. Soller, Edna M. Jenks, Mildred A. Grosch, and Edith J. Asp, nephews Joseph Grosch Jr., Robert Soller Jr., and nieces Jennifer Williams and Ardith Asp in infancy.
The family of Joan would like to extend a special thank you to her friends at Brookside Meadows, Rev. Patrick P. Augustine for his many visits, Dr. John Conzemius, the Gundersen Hospice Staff, BrightStar Home Care and Onalaska Care Center for their excellent care of Joan.
Funeral services will be held at Christ Episcopal Church at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 18th. Rev. Patrick P. Augustine will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family at the church on Tuesday, October 18th from 10:00 AM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Christ Episcopal Church or Gundersen Health System Heart Institute in memory of Joan.
