Betty J. Lewiston

Betty June Lewiston, passed away on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at Gundersen Health System in La Crosse, from complications due to injuries she suffered in a car accident while on a family vacation. She was born on June 4, 1932 to Edwin and Agnes (Hagen) Anderson. Betty grew up in Cashton, being confirmed in the Christian faith on June 1, 1947 at Immanuel Lutheran Church. She graduated from Cashton High School in 1950. After graduation she moved to La Crosse where she worked at Lutheran Hospital as an OR Technician. On July 27, 1956 she married Leonard John Lewiston. During their 55 years together they raised three daughters and enjoyed camping and family vacations. After 23 years of service, Betty retired from Onalaska Schools Food Services. It was then that Betty and Leonard expanded their travels across the United States. Betty also enjoyed gardening, making lefse with her daughters and nieces, sewing quilts for the church and caring for her grandpets.
Betty is survived by her three daughters Heide Lewiston, Tena (Jay) Flatow and Carla Lewiston, a sister Eva Anderson and many loved family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, sister Mildred Anderson, sister and brother in law Ellen (Lynn) Miedema along with aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and other family members.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, September 26, 2016 at Bethel Lutheran Church, 1931 Loomis St, La Crosse. Rev. Duane Baardseth will officiate. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Monday from 10 AM until the time of service. Memorials may be made to Bethel Lutheran Church.
