Mary H. Legg

August 5, 1934 — September 17, 2016

Mary Pyne Hennessy Legg passed away at her home in La Crosse, WI on Saturday, September 17, 2016. She was a mother, a grandmother and a great grandmother. Mary was born in Enid, Oklahoma on August 5, 1934 to Francis Pyne and Mary Agnus (Wahl) Hennessy. After her father’s death in 1937, she and her mother moved to Elwood, Indiana to be closer to her mother’s family. Mary worked in Elwood as an office secretary for Franklin Finance and St. Clair Glass Co. She moved to Black River Falls, Wisconsin to be closer to her grandchildren. While in Black River Falls she got involved in the health care industry. She took care of several people in Black River Falls and traveled as far as St. Paul, Minnesota to care for one individual. After her retirement she moved to La Crosse to be even closer to her grandchildren. Mary was always a giver and loved to take care of people. She will be missed greatly by those who knew her. Mary had a great love for painting and crafts. She loved all animals and made sure to feed them, that is why there were 7 deer that came to her apartment even after she moved. Mary loved to play practical jokes on her grandchildren, especially at Christmas.
Mary’s passing leaves a void in the lives of those she loved, her son Brian Legg (fiance’ Laurie Rhyner), grandchildren Jessica( Dr. Dustin) VanOverbeke, Brian( Dr. Tammy) Legg, Corey Legg, Rebecca Legg, Devon and Drake Murray (step grandsons), and a special young man who thought of her like a grandma, Andrew Odene, great grandchildren Ansel and Emerson VanOverbeke and Owen Legg.
The Legg family would like to give special thanks to the entire staff in Interventional Radiology along with the Gundersen Hospice staff. Mary truly enjoyed each and every one of you. You all made her feel so special.
