Sally J. Schober, 77 of La Crosse passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, September 8, 2016. She was born February 6, 1939 in La Crosse to Clifford and Myrtle (Wamhoff) Curtis and graduated from Central High School.
On March 2, 1957 she married Douglas Schober in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in La Crosse. Sally enjoyed spending time at the family trout farm outside of Hokah, MN; cooking, gardening and taking rides in the country. Sally was truly a people person and enjoyed spending many hours at local craft shows. She eagerly supported community organizations and enjoyed sharing her baked goods, especially her caramels. She was a foster mom to many and was most happy when she could dress for comfort.
In addition to her husband Doug, she is survived by three children; Doug (Cheri) Schober, Jr. of Holmen, Kerri (special friend, Vern) Schober of La Crosse and Sara (Tom) Carpenter of Caledonia; adopted son, Dan Schober of Wisconsin; 9 grandchildren, Mathew (Lindsay) Schober, Nicole (Mason) Mueller, David (Jennifer) Silbaugh, Jr., Brandon (Barb) Silbaugh, Emily (fiance’, Alex) Hughes, Benjamin (Marina) Eggen, Brian (Kelly) Carpenter, Molly (Alex) Derrickson and Jason Carpenter; 14 great-grandchildren with two more on the way; two sisters, Theo (Kenneth) Abnet and Peggy (Russ) Opland both of Onalaska; a brother, Pete (Cindy) Curtis of Holmen; two brothers-in-law, Tom Brake of Onalaska and Greg (Joan) Brake of Holmen along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and four brothers and sisters.
Per Sally’s wishes there will be no services. Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services is assisting the family.
