Nancy Jean Adducci, 76, passed away peacefully in her home on Sunday September 4th, 2016. After being diagnosed with a terminal illness late last October, she made the courageous decision to choose quality of life versus continued medical treatment. The last 10 months she has proven to her family, friends and caregivers that life is about living as independently as possible, coping, acceptance, gentle positivity, setting short-term achievable goals and drawing on the support from those closest to her.
Nancy was born in Chicago, IL, on March 26, 1940 to Nicolas and June (Beyer) VanderVliet. At 19, she met the love of her life, Jim Adducci. They were married on May 6, 1961 and, together, through the last 55 years, built a wonderful life. They raised 3 children, Marybeth (Mark) Shisler, of Orlando, FL, Joanne (LaMont) Schulz, of Oregon, WI and James Adducci of La Crosse.
Her eyes would light up and the stories would flow when anyone asked about her 3 beautiful grandchildren, Danielle Shisler, Adam Shisler and Hogan Schulz.
Her feisty zest for life and desire to be around people led her to many different things over the years. If she were here today she'd say her claim to fame was being an accomplished shopper (and being the neatest pack rat ever)!! She loved to cook and the kitchen was her domain, even leading her to being the first "Coulee Region Cooks" guest 27 years ago.
Jim and the entire family would like to thank the caregivers from Hospice for their compassionate and professional dedication to Nancy this past year.
As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions can be made to the Hospice services of the Gundersen Medical Foundation.
A private family gathering and service will be held at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services of La Crosse.
