Robert J. Janeiro (Bob), 72, passed away on September 1, 2016, at his home in La Crosse. Robert was born in Racine, Wisconsin to Manuel and Laura (Medeiros) Janeiro on January 26, 1944.
Robert is survived by his loving wife of almost 29 years, Cindy (Dwyer) Janeiro, his two daughters Gina Janeiro of Eagan, MN and Nicole (Paul) Grzybowski of Denver, CO and his brother Richard Janeiro of San Antonio, TX. He had three grandsons – Jake Lisher (12) of Eagan, MN and River (14) and Mason (9) Quintanilla of Denver, CO. He also had a large and loving family of in-laws – Stanley (Sue) Dwyer, Maxine Dwyer, Darlene (Charlie) Hundt, Roxanne Dwyer, Darrel (Lauren) Dwyer, Marilyn (Randy) Jones, Wayne (Bev) Dwyer, Keith Dwyer, Sue (Greg) Tolvstad, Brent (Diane) Dwyer, Dan (Sue) Dwyer, Lisa Dwyer, Tim (Michelle) Dwyer and Brian Buckmaster and numerous nephews and nieces. He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, William and Donald Janeiro.
Robert lived in La Crosse, WI most of his life and graduated from Aquinas High School in 1962. He worked as a Meat Cutter for Super Valu and thereafter for Quillin’s until his retirement. He also owned Thirsty’s Bar for several years in the late 70’s and early 80’s. One of Bob’s happiest pastimes during retirement was adoring his 3 grandsons. He was so proud and would grin ear to ear watching Jake play baseball, River swim, and Mason throw the ball like a pro. He would spend time in the summer with two of his grandchildren, River and Mason in Colorado. They were all “Grandpa’s little buddies”.
Over time, Bob supported the remodel of his home which he also grew up in as a child, hung out with his dear family and friends, including the “breakfast club,” and spent time “pressing his lucky hand”. Bob was a history buff and loved watching old westerns while sorting his coin collection in his favorite chair. He cherished his time traveling to Europe with his wife, Cindy and brother, Rick, was fortunate enough to travel on a cruise with his daughter, Gina, and in the early 2000’s went white water rafting in Colorado with his daughter, Nicole.
Bob could not go anywhere without knowing someone and always spent time “catching up”. He would and did help anyone in need. His life was truly blessed because of the care and love that his wife, Cindy showed him every day. He will be sorely missed by all of his friends and family.
