Wayne L. Kuepfer

Wayne L. Kuepfer, 81 of La Crosse and formerly of Hustisford, WI died on Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at the Gundersen Health System in La Crosse following a brief illness. He was born January 28, 1935 in Hustisford to Walter and Dorothy (Henkel) Kuepfer. Wayne was baptized and confirmed at Bethany Ev. Lutheran Church in Hustisford. In May of 1952 he graduated from Hustisford High School. On July 3, 1954 he married Hazel Ninmann in Hustisford.
Wayne had worked as a plumber in Hustisford until 1968 when the family moved to La Crosse where Wayne served as the city plumbing inspector until 1974. He worked for various plumbing contractors in La Crosse until 1979 and then worked for Dennis Priebe Plumbing until his retirement in November 2000. Wayne was an avid Packers fan and loved polka music. In his younger years he enjoyed playing the drums for various polka bands. He was a member of Mt. Calvary Ev. Lutheran Church in La Crosse.
Wayne is survived by his beloved wife Hazel of 62 years; two children, Keith Kuepfer of La Crosse and Sherry (Clifford) Maas of Clyman, WI; two grandchildren, Jason (fiance’ Stephanie Rucynski) of Hustisford and Katie (Charles) Curtis of La Crosse; a sister, Jane (Lonnie) Mann of Ripon, WI along with numerous nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, September 3rd in the Hustisford Cemetery, Hustisford, WI with Rev. Joshua Kesting officiating.
