Romeo J. Becker

Romeo J. Becker, 93 of Hokah, MN, died in Lakewood, CO, on Monday, August 15, 2016 after having attended his granddaughters wedding. He was born in Hokah on March 28, 1923 to Albert and Ida (Betz) Becker. He married Marie Miller at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Hokah on May 12, 1956. She preceded him in death on November 14, 1995.

Romeo worked as a welder at Trane Company for over 30 years. After his retirement, he spent much of his free time helping beautify the Como Falls area, for this, he was honored in 2001 as Parade Marshall at the Hokah Sesquicentennial parade. He also delivered Meals on Wheels. He was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Parish in Hokah where he would assist with playground duty, and could be counted on to help anyone that asked. Romeo, along with his neighbor, set up a Christmas light display in his yard for a few years that lit up the whole neighborhood and attracted tour busses to see the lights, displays, and visits with Santa.

He is survived by three daughters, Monica (John) Lambert of La Crescent, Terri Becker of La Crosse, Linda (Harold) Carlson of South Lyon, MI, one son Michael Becker of Hokah, six grandchildren Troy (Johnalee) Lambert, Luke Lambert, Brad Anderson, Kimberly (Dave) Potter, Brittney Carlson, Scott Carlson, one sister in law Wilda Becker of Kenosha, Wis. and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife Marie, he was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11am on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church. Rev. Pratap Reddy Salibindla will officiate. Burial will follow in the Mount Calvary Cemetery Hokah. Friends may call on the family Saturday morning from 10am until the time of Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Peter’s Catholic School.
