Audrey Bissen

Audrey Bissen, 81, of La Crescent, passed away Friday, August 26, 2016, at the Mayo Clinic Health System in La Crosse. She was born April 10, 1935, in Glendive, Montana, to Andrew and Urzula (Krueger) Gust. Audrey was a 1953 graduate of La Crosse Central High School. She married David Bissen April 11, 1959, in La Crosse. Audrey worked as a medical transcriptionist for Lutheran Hospital and St. Francis Hospital. She touched countless lives through her extensive volunteer work including 24 years as a Eucharistic minister at Mayo Healthcare System.
She is survived by her husband David, five children, Robert (Deborah) of Annandale, Virginia, Kathryn (Peter) Bissen of Madison, Wisconsin, Diane (Greg) Symons of Holmen, Steven (Judy) of La Crescent, and Patrick (Lisa) of Albertville, Minnesota. Her loving family also includes fourteen grandchildren: Libby, Cami, Malia, Kiara, Joel, Aubrey, Karyssa, Todd, Jaci, Geoffrey, Nicholas, Courtney, Amanda, and Jacob, one great-grandchild, Ellington, and numerous foster grandchildren and great-grandchild, as well as a sister, Shirley Gust, of Corona, California. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Ann Smith and Helen Stafslien.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, August 29, 2016, at 11:00 AM at the Church of the Crucifixion, La Crescent. Rev. Gregory Havel will officiate. Burial will be in the Crucifixion Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral & Cremation Services of La Crescent, 111 South Oak Street, Sunday from 5:00 – 7:00 PM and at the church on Monday from 10:00 AM until the time of services.
