Edris "Edie" R. Koppa

Edie Koppa, age 57, passed away on Saturday, August 20, 2016 at Gundersen Health System. A long-time resident of LaCrosse, Edie will be remembered for her great love of family, her often sage advice, and her tenacity in dealing with serious health issues. She especially enjoyed serving as a church organist for 21 years.
A graduate of Wausau Newman High School, Edie attended UW- Oshkosh and Viterbo University in LaCrosse, majoring in music therapy. She was a member of St. James the Less Catholic Church in LaCrosse.
Edie is survived by her father, Cy Koppa, Wausau, WI, sister Patty Koppa (Robert Zarracina), Stillwater, MN, brother Phil Koppa, Cordova, Tennessee, and nephew Connor Koppa (Samantha), Edina MN, and niece Riley Eversull (Patrick), Camp Lejeune, NC. She is also survived by her children, Patrick Dunigan, Waukesha WI and Kathryn Rates, Oshkosh WI, and treasured grandchild, Clarice. Her mother, Catherine Koppa and brother, Kim Koppa, preceded Edie in death.
The family is immensely grateful to Edie’s health care providers and caregivers for their compassion and support, especially over the last few months.
At a later date, a celebration of life gathering will be held in Wausau, Wisconsin. Edie requested that memorial donations be sent to either the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
