Melba Doreen Miller, 76, passed away on August 17, 2016 at the Valley View Nursing Home, Houston, MN. Melba was born on October 14, 1939, in Mabel, MN to Melvin and Doris Newgard. She had four siblings: Beverly (Norris), Rodney (lone), Laurel (Chris) and Thomas (Sherida).
She married Oswald Twite in 1955 and was blessed with her pride and joy, her 8 sons: Dale (Linda), Doug (Kay), Dennis (Barb), Darryl (Jessie), Davis, Darrin/Beanie (Lori), Dean (Tammy), and Dusty (Tammy). She loved keeping up with their lives on social media and enjoyed their special visits.
Melba lived in Caledonia and worked as the Food Supervisor at Caledonia Healthcare. She was very proud of the night classes that she took in order to do her job. On October 20, 1989, she married Joseph Miller, her gentle, loving husband. She was very thankful for the time she had with him living in their home in Hokah.
These are Melba's thoughts, in her own words: "My greatest blessings were my 8 sons, who gave me my daughters. I am so happy I had the family I did and am so proud of them all. Some of the moments I treasured most were holding my grandchildren and teaching them songs and stories. Time with special friends was also very dear to me. Other things I enjoyed were watching birds, my flowers, lawn, reading, crocheting, cooking and baking, dancing and singing and playing cards." "I prayed that I could die with grace and dignity as I took God's hand and he lead me to my two sons Dennis and Davis and my husband Joe." "I want to be remembered for my kindness, compassion, strength, sense of humor, and my loving hugs given generously and often. Please remember my love and hugs were given from my heart." "Love to all of you and don't forget your smiles. Take care of each other." I love you more, Mom/Melba.
