Jerome Lee Iverson

August 12, 1969 — August 2, 2016

Jerome Lee Iverson, 46 of Caledonia, MN, entered into God’s everlasting peace on Tuesday, August 2, 2016. He was born August 12, 1969 to Eldon and Hazel (Halverson) Iverson, Hokah, MN. He was confirmed at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, La Crescent, MN and graduated from La Crescent High School in 1987.
Jerome entered the US Army on August 26, 1987 and was stationed in Germany and Ft. Bragg, NC. During his five years of enlistment he served in Persian Gulf War, Operation Desert Storm, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia as a multi-channel communications system operator. He was honorably discharged on December 1, 1992 with the rank of Specialist 4 and achieved high honors for his marksmanship.
Jerome continued his education at Brown Institute, Minneapolis, MN in the radio & television broadcasting program. He graduated with high honors.
He went on to work at a radio station in Mitchell, SD and was known as “Josh” on the air. When Jerome returned to the area he worked at Aramark, CenturyLink and Logistics Health.
As a youngster Jerome was in cub scouts, 4-H and Little League. During his high school years, he was in basketball, baseball, band and choir. In his later years, he shot on a dart league team. Jerome was “all sports.” If he wasn’t playing sports he was watching sports.
On September 11, 2014 God blessed him with the one true love of his life his daughter, Dani Kathleen Iverson. In addition to Dani, Jerome is survived by his parents of Hokah, MN; sister, Janice Messner and niece/god daughter, Michaela Mullen, both of Caledonia, MN; and nephew/godson, Garrett Mullen of La Crosse, WI; in addition to aunts and cousins.
He was preceded in death by two nephews, Kevin and Johnathan Mullen; maternal grandparents, Oscar and Ernestine Halverson and parental grandparents, Edwin and Selma Iverson.
Jerome always took the time to listen and be a support, could talk to most anyone and had a trusting heart. He was an amazing and loving father to Dani, a good son, brother, god father, uncle and friend.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 13, 2016 at Community Church of Hokah located at 204 Main St., Hokah, MN. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. followed by service at 11 a.m. with Pastor Dave Possing officiating. Lunch will follow the service. Burial will be at a later date.
