William L. Hegge, 76 of La Crosse and formerly of Greendale passed away on Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at the Gundersen Health System. He was born October 9, 1939 in La Crosse to Oris and Constance (Rossiter) Heege and graduated from Riverside High School, Milwaukee in 1958. In 1962 he received a B.S. degree from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. In 1969 he married Marilyn Ann LoPresti in Chicago.
Bill worked for Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Co. in Milwaukee from 1962 until his retirement as the director of telecommunications and research in the Information Systems Department. Bill served as a district board member of the Milwaukee Area Technical College from 1992 until 2001 and served as board chair for two years. He also served three terms as a Trustee for the Village of Greendale, WI. He is a past president of the Wisconsin Telecommunications Association and the Midwest SL-1 User’s Association. Bill served as a board member of the International Communications Association.
Bill enjoyed personal computing, household projects, photography and travel. He and Marilyn had recently moved to La Crosse on April 4, 2016.
In addition to his wife, Marilyn, he is survived by three sons; James (Rachel Watson) Hegge of Queens, NY, Michael (Carey) Hegge of La Crosse and Joseph (Kristin) Hegge of Lake Villa, IL; four grandchildren, Matthew, Kayla, Ethan and Aiden; two sisters, Marilyn (Wayne) Kile of La Farge, WI and Jill Hegge Burgchardt of Ft. Collins, CO; two brothers, Paul (Linda) Hegge of Arcadia, WI and David (Sheila) Hegge of Nodine, MN along with many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Candance Gormican.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, August 5th from 3-5 PM with a prayer service to be held at 5:00 PM at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services of La Crosse with Rev. Timothy Welles officiating. Private family burial will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the Easter Seals, 505 Northview Road, Waukesha, WI 53188.
