Shirley Ann Proksch

Shirley A. (Bay) Proksch, 83, of rural De Soto, passed away peacefully in her home on Sunday, July 10, 2016. She was born at St. Anne’s Hospital in La Crosse on November 21, 1932 to Oswald and Sylvia (Wedeberg) Bay. Shirley grew up in the Chaseburg area. On July 17, 1952 she was united in marriage to William A. Proksch at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Chaseburg and shortly after they bought a farm near De Soto. William and Shirley were integral members of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Genoa. Shirley enjoyed cooking, gardening, flower arranging, and taking care of those around her. She loved spending time with her family!
Shirley is survived by five children, Terry (Lorie) Proksch of La Crosse, Dale (Tracy) Proksch of Coon Valley, Nancy (Pat) Himebaugh of Ripon, WI, Dave (Lisa) Proksch of De Soto, and Sharlene (Todd) Weibel of La Crosse, eleven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, two brothers, Earl (Evie) Bay and Donald (Sally) Bay, a sister Alice (Dwain) Henden, and two sisters-in-law, Sherry Bay and Gundi Bay. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a grandson Korey, and two brothers, Orville and Kenneth.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 15, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Grace Ev. Lutheran Church, La Crosse. Pastor Paul E. Kante will officiate. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral & Cremation Services of La Crosse on Thursday from 4:00 – 7:00 PM, and at the church on Friday from 10:00 AM until the time of services. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to St. John’s Lutheran Church, Genoa, or the Gundersen Hospice Program.
