Lorene E. Schleich, 88, of Hokah, died Wednesday, July 6, 2016, at Valley View Healthcare in Houston.
Lorene was born on April 8, 1928, in Houston County, Minnesota, to Joe F. and Malinda (Pilger) Lorenz.
She married Omer Schleich on July 3, 1946. In 1955, Omer and Lorene purchased their home on Union Ridge where they farmed until October of 2012. She especially enjoyed going out for coffee with her friend, Sandy Christman, and visits from the grand and great-grandchildren.
Lorene is survived by her children, Bob of Phoenix, Ariz., Jim (Brenda Fox), Nancy (Tom) Nimmo, and Pat (Randy) Carlson, all of Hokah; eleven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. She is also survived by her brother, Don Lorenz of La Crescent; sisters, Carol (Jim) McCabe and Marg (Ron) Cordes of Brownsville; sisters-in-law, Joyce Schleich of La Crescent and Alice Schleich of Caledonia; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Omer; her parents; brothers-in-law, Duane, Jack, Valery, and Jed Schleich; a sister-in-law, Helen Lorenz; and by a son-in-law, Virgil Bjorge.
A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Saturday, July 9th, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Hokah, with Father Pratap Reddy Salibindla celebrating, and Father Paul Breza concelebrating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, rural Hokah. Friends may call from 9:00 AM until the time of service on Saturday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated, and will be donated to charities supported by Lorene.
