Calceen “Cally” M. Role, 84, of La Crosse, passed away on Sunday, July 3, 2016, at the Bethany-St. Joseph Care Center.
Cally was born in La Crosse on November 9, 1931, to John and Myrtle (O’Connor) Foss. She attended school in La Crosse and was a 1949 graduate of Aquinas High School. On August 30, 1952, she married Arthur R. Role at the Cathedral of St. Joseph the Workman. Cally was a devout Catholic throughout her life and very passionate about her church.
Cally had been employed for many years as a clerk at several downtown La Crosse stores including Spurgeon’s, J.C. Penney, and the Army Surplus Store. She also worked in the development lab at Moen Photo.
She is survived by her husband, Art; two daughters, Dixie Poehling and her husband, John Poehling , daughter Teri Role-Warren and her husband, Jerry Warren; grandchildren, John Poehling, Jr., Libby Mendoza and her husband, Thomas Mendoza, Gary Poehling, Nathan Lee and his wife, Caroline Hyatt, and Alex Lee and his partner, John Musichuk; great-grandchildren, Josephine Hyatt-Lee and Ezekiel Mendoza; sisters-in-law, Barb Seidel and Esther Schroeder; step-grandchildren Jerry Warren, Jr., Brent Warren, Domenica Giallombardo and Bianca Lauck, as well as many nieces and nephews and their children. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Earl Foss.
In accordance with Cally’s wishes, there will be a private family memorial mass held at Mary, Mother of the Church Parish in La Crosse. Burial will take place in the Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Mary, Mother of the Church Parish, 2006 Weston St., La Crosse, WI 54601.
