Betty M. Angell, 91 of La Crosse, WI, passed away June 18, 2016 at Gundersen Health System of La Crosse. She was born in Sparta to Harold and Maude (Weingarden) Pitcher on August 31st, 1924. They then moved to La Crosse with her two sisters. She graduated from Central High School and then worked at Montgomery Ward for several years. She then worked at Sears where she met her husband to be Paul Angell. They were married July 1st 1946 in La Crosse and he preceded her in death on October 31, 2005. During their marriage they adopted a baby girl, Debbie.
They loved fishing and almost every evening after work would go with Betty's father who lived with them. Betty also loved to square dance and round dance. She and Paul were members of the Promenaders. Betty loved animals and had many dogs in her lifetime. They loved camping and traveling, spending many wonderful times crossing the United States in their RV with their two dogs “Cindy” and “Ginger”. Betty is survived by her niece Trudy (Tom) Kennedy, nephews Ron (Jean) Seitz, Larry (Sue) Seitz, Jerry (Joyce) Soffa, Rod(Karen)Soffa, niece Judy Kimball and special friends Sue Stetter and Tammy Larkin. In addition to her parents and her husband Paul, she was preceded in death by her daughter Debbie Dohve and Debbie’s husband Dave; Her sisters Carol Soffa and husband Leo and Anita Seitz and husband John, niece Anita “Susie” Mahlum and nephew Steve Soffa.
Funeral Services will be held at 11am on Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at First Congregational Church. Entombment will follow in the Chapel of Devotion Mausoleum at Woodlawn Cemetery, La Crosse. Visitation will be one hour before the service. Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home of La Crosse is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred and will be donated in Betty’s memory.
