William O. Blum

William O. “Bill” Blum, 87 of Holmen, WI, passed away on Sunday, June 5, 2016 at the Gundersen Health System of La Crosse surrounded by his loving family. He was born in La Crosse on December 5, 1928 to Oscar and Anna (Wojtecki) Blum. He married Dorothy J. Zierke on April 17, 1948 and she preceded him in death in 1998.
Bill was a hardworking family man. He was very creative in drawing plans for work projects as well as home, woodcrafts and yard landscaping. He enjoyed and excelled in many things such as woodworking, home building, horse training, fishing and many other talents. Family was very important to him and he worked hard to make their home enjoyable.
Bill also loved music, especially Frankie Yankovic. He played accordion, keyboard, harmonica and drums just to name a few. He will be missed deeply by his family, but they are at peace knowing he is at eternal rest with their mother.
Bill is survived by his children; Chet (Sue Hilber) Blum of Onalaska, WI, Cheryl (Larry) Richmond of Holmen, Peggy (John) Jolivette of Mindoro, WI, Jeff Blum of Holmen, Lori (Dan) Blom of Spooner, WI, nine grandchildren; Chris, Vicki, Mandy, Jason, Jesse, Megan, Nick, Bailey and Erik; eleven great grandchildren and one sister Dorothy Wuensch of La Crosse. In addition to his wife Dorothy he was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
The family would like to offer a special thank you to all those who provided Bill with care and comfort in his final days. The Neuroscience and Palliative units at Gundersen Health System were exceptional and deeply appreciated.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30am on Saturday, June 11, 2016 at Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services La Crosse chapel; 200 West Ave. South. Pastor Ted Dewald will officiate. Burial will follow in the Mormon Coulee Memorial Park, town of Shelby. Friends may call on the family Saturday morning at the funeral home from 9:30am until the time of services.
