Marcia J. Friedline, 85, of La Crosse passed away on Friday, May 13, 2016 at Gundersen Health System in La Crosse. She was born on August 29, 1930 in Johnstown, PA to Miles and Geraldine (Dishong) Baumgardner. Marcia grew up in Johnstown, PA and graduated from Dale High School. She received her teaching degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. In 1953 Marcia married Karl W. Friedline. She taught elementary school in Johnstown, Norfolk, VA and Altoona, PA. The family moved to La Crosse, WI in 1965. Marcia taught as a homebound teacher for six years, and then served as the director of Congregational Church Nursery School for 23 years. She was involved in many community activities including the Community Thanksgiving Dinner, Family Resources, The World We Live In, First Presbyterian Church, Church Women United, Oktoberfest and the La Crosse Clown Club as “Hearts the Clown”.
Marcia is survived by her husband Karl Friedline of La Crosse, WI, two sons Dwight “Chip” (Ann) Friedline of Crystal, MN and Kirk Friedline (Geva Thole) of La Crosse, grandchildren Dana (Michael) Darling of Madison, WI, Miles Friedline of Bend, OR, Katherine (David) Foag of Minneapolis, MN and Nolan Friedline of Apple Valley, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 20, 2016 at First Presbyterian Church, 233 West Ave. S., La Crosse. Rev. Dr. J. Taylor Haley will officiate. Friends may call at the Schumacher – Kish Funeral & Cremation Services, 200 West Ave. S. on Thursday from 5-7 PM and again at the church on Friday from 10 AM until the time of service. A lunch will follow the services at the church on Friday. Memorials may be given to The World We Live In at the La Crosse public Library or The Parenting Place.
