Catherine M Buckley

Catherine Mary (Felsheim) Buckley, 94, formerly of La Crosse, died peacefully in her sleep, on Friday, May 13, 2016, at The Onalaska Care Center.

She was born July 6, 1921 in Centerville, Wisconsin to Christian and Angela (Dascher) Felsheim, graduated from Arcadia High School, in Arcadia Wisconsin. She attended nursing school at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Chicago specializing in pediatric nursing. She returned to La Crosse after graduating from nursing school as a Licensed Practical Nurse and worked for years at Grandview Hospital. She loved taking care of the newborn babies.

In 1943, soon after returning from Chicago, Catherine met Kenneth C. Buckley, a young Infantry Lieutenant from California. It was love at first sight and they shared 65 years of love, devotion and friendship. Catherine was a member of Holy Trinity Parish and Life Member of The Military Officers Association of America (MOAA).

She will be remembered for her devotion to her family and her Catholic faith. She loved to travel, and was an avid reader.

Catherine is survived by three children, Angeline Langrehr of La Crosse, Thomas (Charlotte) Buckley of Pasadena California, and Christine (Stan) Smith of Holmen; four grandchildren, Suzanne (Josh) Woodward of Miami Beach, Florida, Caroline (PierLuca) Lombardi of Miami, Florida, Tanya (John) Sullivan of Holmen, Nicholas Smith of Berlin, Germany; and five great grandchildren; Alaska Woodward, Enzo and Stella Lombardi, Cayden and Jayden Sullivan.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Therese Ann Buckley, her husband, her parents and seven brothers and sisters.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30AM, Friday May 20, 2016, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 1333 13th Street in La Crosse, Wisconsin 54601. The Rev. Rick Roberts will officiate.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the mass. Interment will be in the Catholic Cemetery La Crosse.
