Harold E Coughlin

Harold E. Coughlin, 88, of Hokah, MN, died on Sunday, May 8, 2016 in his home. He was born on May 24, 1927 in New Albin, IA to William F. and Mary Agnes (Kelly) Coughlin. Harold was a US Navy veteran of WWII, serving on the USS Bon Homme Richard. He married Marian C. Murray on April 29, 1950 in St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Hokah. She preceded him in death on January 10, 2010. He had worked at Trane Company in La Crosse from 1951 until his retirement in 1989. Harold enjoyed collecting old dial phones and ash trays, garage sales, and traveling by train. He enjoyed day trips to area small towns and church dinners, and co-piloting on trips with his daughter Fritz.
He is survived by seven children, Jeff (Bobbie) Coughlin, Colleen (David) Hurley, Mariella (Tim) Coughlin, Kelly (Dale) Johnson, Noreen “Fritz” (Tom) Oldenburg, Bill Coughlin, and Beth (Brian) Lynch, fourteen grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife Marian he was preceded in death by an infant daughter Bridget, a son Timothy, sisters Gladys Caughlin, Berenice Caughlin, and Alyce Hogan, and brothers Maurice Caughlin, John Coughlin, and Joe Coughlin.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at 11:00 AM at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Hokah. Rev. Pratap Reddy Salabindla will officiate. Burial with Military Honors will be in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Hokah. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the time of services.
