Virginia M. Larson, 91, left her loving home at the Onalaska Care Center to be with the love of her life, Ossie.
She was born on January 23, 1925, in La Crosse, the first born to Eugene and Marie (Kaiser) Mettille. She married Oscar B. Larson on November 4, 1947, at St. James Catholic Church in La Crosse. Oscar preceded her in death on November 16, 1997.
Virginia loved to help others and was always smiling. She was also devoted to her family and lived her faith every day.
She is survived by her five children, Lana Parker of La Crosse, Diane (Michael) Williams of Janesville, Wis., James (Patty) Larson of Fairfax, Va., Gary (Marsha) Larson of Glendale, Ariz., and Carol (James Brown) LaBonte of Ellensburg, Wash.; nine grandchildren, Terry Parker, Karen (Michael) Jones, Paul (Hilliary Hanson) Williams, Shawn (Joanne) Larson, Eric (Ariana) Larson, Andrew (Mikayla) Larson, Christopher Larson, Kate (Victor) DeLaPasqua and Jennifer Basile; and fifteen great grandchildren, Stephanie, Jacob, Alexandrea, Vincent, Camellia, Charlie, Nathaniel, Christopher, Samantha, Leah, Conner, Aubrie, Carter, Francesca and Luciano. She is also survived by two sisters, LaVon Mindrum of La Crosse, and Sharon Schaefer of Onalaska; one sister-in-law, Lois Mettille of La Crosse; very special friends, John and Kathy Engh; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. In addition to her husband, Oscar, Virginia was also preceded in death by her parents; two siblings, Richard Mettille, Sr., and Marilyn Murray; and one great-grandson, Liam.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 7th, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 1031 Main St., in Onalaska. Msgr. Steven Kachel will officiate. Burial will take place in Oak Grove Cemetery in La Crosse which will be followed by a reception back at the church. Family and friends may call from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m., on Friday, May 6th, at Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services, 907 Sand Lake Rd., Onalaska, where a rosary will be recited at 5:00 p.m., and from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday at the church.
