Jennie R. Brendel

Jennie R. Brendel, 97 of Genoa, WI passed away on Thursday, April 21, 2016 at the Bethany-St. Joseph Care Center. She was born March 23, 1919 in Genoa to Frank and Rose (Martino) Furlano. On October 1, 1947 she married John Brendel at St. Charles Catholic Church in Genoa and he preceded her in death on December 23, 2010.
Jennie and John farmed on Hickory Ridge outside of Genoa for 70 years. She was a lifelong resident of Genoa and member of St. Charles Catholic Church.
Survivors include her five children; Bill (Elizabeth) Brendel of La Crosse, Theresa (Jeff) Byers of Reedsburg, WI, Mary (Steve) Genheimer of Madison, WI, Dan (Theresa) Brendel of Winona, MN and Ann Kriegel of Oshkosh, WI; 13 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; five brothers and sisters; Kate Sallander of La Crosse, Greg (Evie) Furlano of Genoa, Francis “Frex” (Arla) Furlano of Stoddard, Marie Deja of River Falls, WI and Joe (Avis) Furlano of Onalaska; a brother-in-law, Charles Brendel of La Crosse and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband John, she was preceded in death by a son, Michael; her parents; four brothers and sisters; Rose Kimball, Cel Falada, Nuncie Furlano and Paul Furlano, along with several brothers and sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, April 30th at St. Charles Catholic Church in Genoa with Rev. William Dhein officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 9:00 AM until the time of services. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to St. Charles Catholic Church or School or an organization of choice. Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services of La Crosse is assisting the family.
