Patricia Lee (Larson) Bryan, 71, of La Crosse, passed away on Friday, April 1, 2016 surrounded by her family and friends at the Mayo Health System in La Crosse. She was born in St. Paul, MN on May 12, 1944 to Leonard and Josephine (Sundstrom) Larson. She married Patrick Bryan and they later divorced. They had two children, Errol Bryan of La Crosse and Nancy (David) Clements of La Crosse, and two grandchildren whom she cherished, Thomas and William Clements.
Patricia graduated from the Faribault Academy School for the Deaf in 1965, where she was active in volleyball and basketball. Patricia loved life and her sense of humor would sometimes stop you in your tracks. Patricia had a love of cats and compassion for every stray kitten. She gave to every charity that came her way, no matter what she was told about the charity, she didn’t care because she would say, “I always receive corresponding letters, greeting cards, and trinkets, so it has to be going to some good cause!” She enjoyed shopping, visiting with friends and watching reality TV shows with a passion. She was an active member in Deaf Club and her church.
Patricia always wanted to go to Disneyland with her best friend Jane Dyer but never made it. They would have had a ball. If Patricia would have been there, I can tell you she would have bought a hat, a t-shirt, and a handbag with matching shoes.
Patricia is survived by her son, daughter and two grandchildren and many friends. Patricia was an only child, preceded in death by her loving parents and many aunts and uncles.
Patricia’s family would like to thank Hillview Health Care Center, Dr. Onsrud, Dr. Wilker, and Dr. Machare-Delgado, for their care and kindness. Many thanks to Colleen Cudo from Interpretive Services of Mayo Healthcare, Patricia would not have made it without her dedicated help.
Patricia lived in a deaf world, she might not have been able to hear the music, but she could feel it. As the harp was placed upon her chest, she plunked the strings and felt the vibrations and signed, “I am ready to go to Heaven and hear the music.”
