Edward Mullen, 80, of Chandler, AZ, and formerly of La Crescent, MN, passed away on March 24th at Hospice of the Valley Friendship Village in Mesa, AZ. He was born January 8, 1936 to John and Louise (Hyatt) Hunter in Missouri. Louise later remarried to Alvin Mullen whom adopted Edward and they lived in Winona, MN. On August 25, 1956 Ed married Marlene Frappier at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Dakota, MN.
Ed spent 21 years in the military, 9 years in the Army as a Paratrooper and 12 years in The Air Force. He retired from the Military in 1977 then the family returned to Dakota MN. In 1983 Ed and Marlene moved their family to La Crescent, MN.
Ed spent 12 years working for Trane Company in La Crosse WI. He was involved in the Gittens Leidel American Legion Post 595 in La Crescent and also with the Thomas Rooney VFW Post in La Crosse.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Marlene, his son Joseph, and two grandchildren Kevin and John. He is survived by his son Russell (Shannon) of Chandler AZ and three grandchildren Garrett, Michaela and Tanner.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30am on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at The Church of The Crucifixion in La Crescent. Rev. Gregory Havel will officiate. Burial will follow in the Holy Cross Cemetery, Dakota. Friends may call on the family Friday evening from 4 until 6pm at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services La Crescent chapel; 111 S0. Oak St., and at the church on Saturday from 9:30am until the time of services.
