Douglas Alan Owen, 52, of La Crosse, died on Monday, March 21, 2016 at his home. He was born on June 14, 1963 in La Crosse to Oliver and Beverly (Kopplen) Owen. Doug graduated from Central High School in 1981 and attended WWTC. He worked as a security guard at Central States Warehouse, G. Heileman Brewery, and Gundersen Lutheran for many years. Doug enjoyed reading, model building, was a military history buff, and an avid shoe collector. He loved auto racing and was a sponsor and co-owner of a racing car.
He is survived by his mother Beverly, two brothers, Curtis Owen and Kevin Owen, a sister Amy (Erich) Busse, four nieces and nephews, Claudia (Charlie) Beck, Anna (Jordan) Loehr, William and Samuel, three great nephews, Arthur, Owen, and Elliot, two aunts, Vera (Sherman) Miller and Myrtle Geary, and an uncle Richard Manske. He was preceded in death by his father Oliver, his grandmother Ruth Manske, and an uncle, Ronald Manske.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 25, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Grace Ev. Lutheran Church, La Crosse. Pastor Jonathan Rimmert will officiate. Burial will be in St. Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery, Chaseburg. Friends may call at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral & Cremation Services of La Crosse on Thursday from 4:00 – 6:00 PM, and at the church on Friday from 10:00 AM until the time of services.
