Terence Jon Richert

September 19, 1957 — March 8, 2016

Terence (Terry) Jon Richert, 58 of La Crosse passed away on Tuesday, March 8, 2016 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born September 19th, 1957 to Ray and Hazel (Hanson) Richert. Terry attended La Crosse Central High School and Western Wisconsin Technical Institute where he earned a degree in supermarket management. Terry’s employment included Quillin’s IGA for twenty years and Darrow’s Country Market in Baraboo WI. He also opened Pet Food Warehouse (Petco) as the store manager and most recently he worked at Hansen’s IGA stores where he was the General Manager.
Terry enjoyed spending time with his family, summertime and grilling and his collie Bentley.
He loved watching his sons play golf and wrestle. He also enjoyed watching the Dallas
Cowboys beat the Green Bay Packers, the Lakers and Timberwolves and attending Brewers and
Bucks games.
Terry had a great sense of humor and a positive outlook. He also had a tremendous work ethic and was dedicated to the grocery business that he was involved in for most of his work life.
Survivors include his loving wife, Deborah (Weigel) Richert and sons, Bret and Troy all from
La Crosse; mother-in-law, Gail Berndt of La Crosse; brothers, Thomas (Mary Kay) Richert of La Crosse and Timothy (Carla) of New Hope, MN; sister-in-law, Denise(Mark) Crary of Colorado Springs, CO; brother-in-law, Mike Weigel of Lake Wales, FL; nephews, Scott Richert of Arlington, VA and Jake Crary, of Colorado Springs, CO; nieces, Meredith Regan of St. Louis, MO and Nicole (Tommy) Roque of Colorado Springs, CO and great nephew, Konnor Regan of St. Louis, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services will be held on Monday, March 14 at 1:00 PM at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services La Crosse chapel; 200 West Avenue South. Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM until time of service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Gundersen Medical Foundation for cancer research, 1836 South Avenue, La Crosse.
