John S. Revels, 88 of French Island passed away Monday March. 7, 2016 at home surrounded by his family. He was born Jan. 6, 1928 in Hillsboro, WI to Max and Hazel (Bloss) Revels. He was united in marriage to Marie Pratt Nov. 20, 1948 in La Crosse WI. John served in the Army during WWII and Korean Conflict. He retired from Metz Bakery. He then worked during his retirement for many more years at North Country Steak Buffet. He enjoyed working with Kathy, Tom, Ricki and all the wonderful crew he met. He was a charter member of French Island Legion Post 417.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, blessed with four children, Linda Jurjens (Ralph), Laura Stedman (Randy), Johnny Revels (Heather), eight grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, one brother Terry, two sisters Judy and Shirley, one sister in law and brother in law Bob and Carol Haas and many nieces and nephews other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son Rick, grandson Andy and seven brothers. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, March 10, 2016 at 1:30 PM at St. James the Less Catholic Church. Msgr. Charles Stoetzel will officiate. Burial with military honors will be in the French Island Cemetery. Friends may call at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral & Cremation Services of La Crosse on Wednesday from 5:00 – 8:00 PM and at the church on Thursday from 12:30 PM until the time of services. The family would like to thank the EMT’s and ambulance crew for the wonderful care they gave John.
