Lucille C. Gees, 95, of La Crosse, died on Thursday, March 3, 2016 at Hillview Terrace in La Crosse. She was born on January 10, 1921 in Soldiers Grove, WI to Wilbur and Nora (Foss) Albrechtson. Lucille graduated from Central High School in 1939 and attended the College of Commerce in La Crosse. She married Earl T. Gees on August 11, 1945 in La Crosse. She had worked at Allis Chalmers in the Cost Department and then in Admissions/Registration at UW-L for 20 years. Lucille was an avid golfer and a member of the La Crosse Country Club for over 40 years. She bowled in the Pla-Mor Classic League for many years. She was also a lifetime member and volunteer at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in La Crosse. Lucille loved decorating for the seasons and holidays, and her grandchildren were her pride and joy.
She is survived by her son Tom (Anne) Gees of Onalaska, three granddaughters, Jennifer (Matthew) Malecha of Bloomington, MN, Katie Gees of Onalaska and Christie Gees of Onalaska. Lucille was the oldest of four girls and is also survived by two sisters, Eleanor Redlin and Janice Tronick, a brother Norris Albrechtson, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband Earl in 2003, a sister Dorothy Beardmore, a brother Bill Albrechtson, and three brothers-in-law, Edward Redlin, Don Beardmore and Arland Tronick.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 7, 2016 at 1:30 PM at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral & Cremation Services of La Crosse. Msgr. Robert Hundt will officiate. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 12:30 PM until the time of services. Memorials may be given to Mayo Clinic Health System-La Crosse or St. Claire Health Mission. Lucille’s philosophy was, life is like riding a bike, you won’t fall off unless you stop peddling. Lucille will be sadly missed by her family and many friends.
