Natalie Gehri Stapleton, age 86, of Onalaska, WI died Sunday February 29th, 2016, following a short illness.
Natalie was born on November 15, 1929, in North Prairie, Wisconsin, the daughter of Hans & Elsie Gehri. Natalie received a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Wisconsin Stout, followed by a Master’s Degree in Secondary Education from the University of Wisconsin Whitewater. Natalie went on to pursue her interest in Home Economics, particularly foods and nutrition which lead to a fulfilling 32 years of teaching in this field. Upon retirement, Natalie continued to teach part-time for an additional ten years and realized her life-long dream of publishing “Grandma Nan’s Cookbook”.
Natalie is survived by two sons, Steven (Linda) of Black River Falls and Daniel (Jennifer) of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico; six grandchildren, Lisa, Karen, Jennifer, Jeff, Annika, Sebastian and six great-grandchildren.
Natalie was preceded in death by her parents; the love of her life and husband of 48 years, Dr. Clement Edward Stapleton; her son David (age 52) and an infant son, Jeffery; two brothers, Donald and Robert; and a sister, Jeanne.
Natalie was a member of Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church in Onalaska, Wisconsin. A visitation and a Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Friday, March 4th with the visitation at 10:00 A.M. and Service following at 11:00 A.M. Msgr. Steven Kachel will officiate. A luncheon will be served following the Service.
Natalie & her family would like to thank Springbrook Assisted Living, Mayo Hospice Care, her doctors and nurses associated with Mayo Healthcare Systems and Schumacher-Kish Funeral Services for all of the support, love & special care that they so willingly put forth on her behalf.
