Dennis Thiele

Dennis Alvin Thiele, 75, of La Crosse, passed away at his home at Eagle Crest South on Saturday, February 27, 2016. He was surrounded with love by his wife and three daughters.
Dennis was born on September 19, 1940, at St. Ann’s Hospital in La Crosse to Alvin and Dorothy (Witt) Thiele. He met the love of his life, Mary Nugent, in 1967, and they were married on March 16, 1968. They were blessed with three wonderful and loving children, Betsy (Josh) Knutson of Genoa, Sue (Don) Krzewinski of Stoddard, and Katie (Matt) Wallace of Pewaukee. He was the loving grandfather to six grandchildren who adored their “Papa” and loved spending time with him, Kaden Knutson, Jake and Jenna Krzewinski, Olivia, Tyler and Gavin Wallace.
Dennis instilled in his three girls the importance of family and cherishing time spent together. Nobody loved his family more than he did.
Dennis had an interest in carpentry from a very early age. He joined the Carpenters Union Local 1143 and worked for many different contractors for 15 years. The last 26 years of his career, he spent working at Franciscan Skemp Medical Center. Dennis had many hobbies but enjoyed woodworking the most. He was a very talented carpenter. He also took great passion in his home and maintaining his beautiful lawn.
In addition to his wife, Mary, and his children and grandchildren, Dennis is also survived by an uncle, Robert “Bob” Witt of La Crosse; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Owen and Mary Nugent of Dubuque, Iowa, Robert and Phyllis Benish of La Crosse, Lois Flynn of Lancaster, Dean and Mary Nugent of Holmen, and Colleen Nugent of La Crosse; numerous nieces, nephews and other close extended family members; and many friends who will miss him dearly.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Dorothy; two sisters, Jean (Wes) Butterbaugh and June Nolop; mother-and father-in law, Clarence and Helen Nugent; brothers-in-law, Bernard (June) Nugent, Clair Nugent, Larry Nugent and Laddie Flynn; an uncle, George Witt; and nephews, John Lancraft and Michael Nugent.
In accordance with Dennis’ wishes, his body will be cremated. A memorial service will be held at 12 noon, on Saturday, March 5th, in the Chapel at Eagle Crest South, 622 Bennora Lee Ct., La Crosse. Msgr. Charles Stoetzel and Pastor Curtis Miller will officiate. Entombment will take place in St. Joseph Mausoleum at the Catholic Cemetery in La Crosse. Family and friends may call from 10:00 a.m. to noon on Saturday, at Eagle Crest South.
