Marcella Louise Abnet

Marcella Louise Abnet, 82, of Nodine, MN, died on Wednesday, February 10, 2016 in her home. She was born on July 30, 1933 in Dakota, MN to John and Minnie (Overing) Thesing. She married George Francis Abnet on February 3, 1951 in Holy Cross Catholic Church, Dakota. Marcella worked as a cashier at Moldenhauer’s Store in Nodine and as a bookkeeper at the Nodine Feed Store. She also farmed with her husband for many years in the Nodine area. Marcella also worked pinning buttons for Express A Button in Nodine. Marcella enjoyed yardwork and feeding the birds. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother who will be missed by all her family. Marcella will be happy to be back with her loving husband George.
She is survived by five children, Karen (Curtis) Heyer, Larry (Deb) Abnet, Randy (Lorie) Abnet, Sharon (Matthew) Pedretti and Lynette (Lance) Woodard, thirteen grandchildren, and was known as Great Grandma on the Farm to fifteen great grandchildren, a brother Robert (Caroline) Thesing, brothers and sisters-in-law, Ruth Thesing, LaVerel Thesing, Arlene (Joe) Ready, Marion (Howard) Kappauf, Kenneth (Theo) Abnet, and Gerald Abnet, several nieces and nephews including a special niece Wanda. She was preceded in death by her husband George on July 7, 2000, two infant grandchildren and two brothers, John and LaVern Thesing.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, February 13, 2016 at 10:00 AM at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Dakota, MN. Rev. Gregory Havel will officiate. Burial will be in the Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral & Cremation Services of La Crescent on Friday from 5:00 – 7:00 PM, and at the church on Saturday from 9:00 AM until the time of services.
