Darrell Jr. Embke

Darrell J. Embke, 79 of La Crosse, passed away on Thursday, January 28, 2016 at the Gundersen Health System of La Crosse. He was born on January 16, 1937 in Neillsville, WI, to Herman M. and Nina A. (Gates) Embke. He married Darlene K. Thompson in Winona, MN, on May 31, 1957 and she preceded him in death on February 12, 1983.
Darrell had a love of polka music, auto racing and driving the open road. He is survived by his three sons; Dennis (Beth) Embke of Farmington, MN, Darwin (Mikki) Embke of La Crescent, Dale (Neely) Embke of La Crescent, his lady friend Sherry Greene of Holmen, WI, six grandchildren Jessica, Christina, Aaron, Austin and Ava Embke, Dalton Lawrie, three brothers; Ronald (Nancy) Embke of Neillsville, WI, Eugene (Anita) Embke of Humbird, WI and Delbert (Judy) Embke of Merrillan, WI. In addition to his wife Darlene, he was preceded in death by two sons David and Donald and one step brother Ernest Embke.
Funeral services will be held at 11am on Monday, February 1, 2016 at Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Service of La Crosse; 200 West Ave. So. Pastor David Baldukas will officiate. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery, La Crosse. Friends may call on the family Monday morning at the funeral home from 9:30am until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred and will be used in Darrell’s memory.
