Nela W. Sorokina

Nela W. Sorokina, 78 of La Crosse died on Tuesday, January 7, 2016 at the Lakeview Healthcare Center. She was born October 31, 1937 in Gluchov, Eastern Ukraine and came to America on June 28, 1983. She graduated from the Respiratory Therapy Program at Madison Area Technical College and then moved to La Crosse in 1988 where she worked in the area hospitals as well Western Wisconsin Technical College. On November 12, 1989 Nela became a United States Citizen. She had helped with translation for the La Crosse-Dubna, Russia sister city visits. Nela was a member of the Cathedral of St. Joseph the Workman.

She is survived by her family in the Ukraine and Russia.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday, January 13 th in the Catholic Cemetery with Msgr. Charles Stoetzel officiating.
