Paul Robert Glamm

Paul Robert Glamm, 66, of La Crosse, was called home to be with his Lord on Monday, January 4, 2016 in his home. He was born on July 14, 1949 in Rochester, MN to Robert Carl and Mary “Elaine” (West) Glamm. Paul was baptized on September 24, 1949 and confirmed in June 1963 both at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Pine Island. On January 9, 1971 he married Vernice Margaret Pahl at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Mazeppa, MN. Paul earned a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Minnesota in June 1971. He worked at Martin-Marietta in Littleton, CO from June 1971 – Aug. 1972. They moved back to Minnesota where Paul earned his MS degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Minnesota in 1974. After graduating they moved to La Crosse where Paul began working at Trane Co. in April of 1974 as a research engineer. Paul had a long and distinguished career supporting Trane’s technology efforts. He was promoted to engineering manager-thermal systems technology in 1991, to manager-water chiller development in 1996 and to manager-product development in 1998. He was promoted to vice president-engineering and product development in 2000 and in 2003 was named TCS program management leader, with responsibility for streamlining new product introduction process. He was named TCS applied systems engineering leader in 2005. He received eight patents for his work, was a Six Sigma black belt and also has held leadership roles with ASHRAE and ARI. He retired on June 30, 2008 after 34 years. Paul joined Grace Ev. Lutheran Church in 1974 and served on the church council as president, secretary, treasurer and elder. He also served as usher, counted offerings and was on the evangelism committee.
He is survived by his wife Vernice, three sons Robert Paul (Dawn) Glamm of Blaine, MN, Eric Lowell (Kelly) Glamm of Belleville, WI and Michael Allen (Falynn) Glamm of Pine Island, MN, seven grandchildren Jessica & Hannah; Catherine & Veronica; Henry, Jameson & Ellasyn, two step-grandchildren Christian & Madison Hakala, two brothers Rev. Carl William Glamm of La Moure, N.D., and Kenneth Earl (Charlotte) Glamm of Prescott, WI, one sister Donna Marie (Norman) Nielsen of Pine Island, MN, three nieces, one nephew, two great nieces, three great nephews, his father and mother-in-law and nine brothers and sisters-in-law and their extended families. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, January 10, 2016 at Grace Ev. Lutheran Church, 2720 S. 26th St., La Crosse. Pastor Jonathan Rimmert will officiate . Private burial will take place at a later date in Pine Island Cemetery, Pine Island, MN. Friends may call at the church on Sunday from 1:00 PM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to Grace Ev. Lutheran Church or Time of Grace. The Schumacher – Kish Funeral & Cremation Services, La Crosse Chapel is assisting the family.
