Louise Katherine Christenson

Louise Katherine Christenson died peacefully on Saturday, January 2, 2016. She was born October 23, 1921, to Henry and Tilda (Nerison) Helgeson in rural Vernon County. She was the third eldest of ten children. On April 11, 1941, she married Vaughn Christenson and they had a daughter, Judith Ann.
Louise and her husband lived and worked together on a farm in Vernon County for many years until they retired and moved to Stoddard, Wis.
Louise had an avid green thumb and maintained an immaculate yard and garden, which were her sources of pride and joy. She liked to sew and bake and is especially remembered for her homemade bread, cookies and donuts. She enjoyed playing cards and dominos with family and friends. She was kind, generous, loving and always willing to help someone in need.
She is survived by her daughter, Judith (Paul Schams), and granddaughters, Jill (Knute) Brye and Jani (Tony Montabon) Jensen, as well as four great-grandchildren, Thor and Axel Brye, and Maxwell and Beatrix Montabon. Louise is also survived by her siblings, Hilda Dahlke, Mabel Groetsch, Anna Pedretti, Evie (Greg) Furlano and Arla (Francis) Furlano; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son-in-law, Jerry Jensen; and siblings, Alvina Krause, Clarence Helgeson, Alice Payne and Erling Helgeson.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m., Thursday, January 7, 2016, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 4141 Mormon Coulee Road, La Crosse. Rev. Harald Bringsjord will officiate. Burial will take place in Stoddard Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Thursday at the church. Memorials may be directed to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.
