Lois A. Hesselberg

Lois A. Hesselberg, 82 of Onalaska, WI, passed away on Thursday, December 31, 2015 at the Gundersen Health System of La Crosse. She was born in La Crosse on July 23, 1933 to Lyle and Lillian (Stuckenschmidt) Secord. On November 5, 1952 she married Stanley R. Hesselberg at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in La Crosse. Lois enjoyed playing penny-ante poker, crafting, and finding a good bargain. She was named the Holmen High School fan of the year in 1978. She also loved music, her granddog “Lady.” and sharing a “good talk” with people.
In addition to her husband Stanley of Onalaska, she is survived by one daughter Robin (Bruce) Melby of Onalaska; three sons Jeffrey (Rhonda) Hesselberg of Holmen, WI; Scott Hesselberg of New Richmond, WI; Mark (Catherine) Hesselberg of Rockville, MD; five grandchildren Erin (Cl’ement) Melby-Leclerc, Shaun (Kate) Melby, Nathan Melby, Taylor Hesselberg, Haley Jo Hesselberg; two sisters Lila Quall and Alice Homstad. She is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant son Steven D. Hesselberg, her sister Lorraine Brieske, and brothers Donald, Robert, Delmer and Raymond Secord.
Funeral services will be held at 11am on Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at First Evangelical Lutheran Church of La Crosse. Pastor Richard Pamperin will officiate. Burial will follow at Green Mound Cemetery in Holmen. Friends may call on the family at the church on Wednesday morning from 10am until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred and will be donated in Lois’ memory.
