Rosemary M. “Rose” Potaracke, 84 of La Crosse, passed away on Sunday, December 13, 2015 at Mayo Clinic Health System in Sparta. She was born in La Crosse on August 25, 1931 to Alois and Alice (Servais) Clements. She married Emil “Don” Potaracke on September 16, 1953 at St. Joseph Ridge Catholic Church. He preceded her in death in October of 2000.
Rose found joy in simply visiting with friends and family while having snacks and refreshments either on the patio or around her kitchen table. Holiday parties included dice games, Pinatas, mom’s famous cookies, snack mix and wieners in barbeque sauce. She also enjoyed her beautiful roses and taking trips to the casino.
Survivors include two daughters; Lisa (Dan) Thill of La Crosse, Cindy (Jeff Schaitel) Liebl of Sparta, WI, Daughter in law Lori Potaracke (Jim Paulson) of Houston, MN, three sons; Mark (Renee) Potaracke of West Salem, WI, Greg (Chris) Potaracke of Rochester, MN, Dennis Potaracke and his girlfriend Caroline of Wausau, WI, three sisters Carol, Gin and Elaine and two brothers David and Frank. Rose also had many grandchildren; Betsy, Tom, Mark Jr., Amanda, Jacob, Kyle, Matthew, Mikaela, Angie, and Jenny, great grandchildren T.J., Kayley, Brett, Hayley, Alice and Sonya. In addition to her husband Don, she was preceded in death by one son Tim, daughter in law Sandy and sister Marie.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, December 18, 2015 at Mary Mother of the Church Parish;2006 Weston St. Rev. Brian D. Konopa will officiate. Private family burial will take place at a later date. Visitation for Friends and family will be held on Thursday evening from 5 until 7 pm at Schumacher-Kish funeral and Cremation Services La Crosse chapel and again at the church on Friday from 9:30am until the time of Mass. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorials be given in Rose’s honor to Bethany on Cass; 1315 Cass St. The family would like to thank the La Crosse and Sparta Mayo Health System and Hillview Care Center staff for the wonderful and kind care given to Rose. A special thank you to the staff and dear friends from her beautiful home at Bethany on Cass.
