Paul R. Bueltel

Paul R. Bueltel, 80, of La Crosse, died on Saturday, December 5, 2015 in his home. He was born on January 17, 1935 in St. Leo, MN to John and Magdalen (Koerperich) Bueltel. Paul grew up in St. Leo where he attended school and worked on the family farm. He enlisted in the US Army and served in Korea after the Korean War with the 27th Battalion as a Chaplain’s Assistant. After his honorable discharge from the military he returned to the family farm. He met Mary “Molly” Dolan and they were married on June 17, 1961. Paul then attended the Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis and moved to La Crosse to work in the testing lab at Trane Company where he worked for 30 years until his retirement. Paul enjoyed photography, traveling, going on cruises, fishing with family and friends, and reading. Music was a big part of his life and he sang in several church choirs, barbershop quartets, and with the Oktoberfest Singers. He also performed in the Steppin Out variety shows. Paul was an active member of St. Pius X Catholic Church and Mary, Mother of the Church Parish, and volunteered at the library and with Causeway.
He is survived by his wife Molly, three children, Pat (Tina) Bueltel of La Crosse, Terry Bueltel of Prairie du Chien, and Meg (Andy) Bell of Rosemont, MN, four grandchildren, Michael and Joseph Bueltel and Matthew and Thomas Bell, and two brothers, Sylvester Bueltel and August (Arlean) Bueltel, both of the Twin Cities. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Tip and Bernard, and two sisters, Regina Bueltel and Marie Schueller.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, December 10, 2015 at 10:30 AM at Mary, Mother of the Church Parish, 2006 Weston St. Rev. Brian D. Konopa will officiate. Entombment with military honors will be in the Mormon Coulee Memorial Park. Friends may call at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral & Cremation Services of La Crosse on Wednesday from 5:00 – 8:00 PM, and at the church on Thursday from 9:30 AM until the time of services
