Clifford J. Williams, 96 of West Salem, died on Sunday November 29, 2015 at the Gundersen Health System. He was born June 26, 1919 in the Town of Sheldon, Monroe County, Wis. to Grover and Rose (Rader) Williams and graduated from Ontario, WI High School. On October 22, 1942 he married Genevieve Switz in Ontario and they divorced in 1974. On July 12, 1975 he married Esther Collins in Bangor, WI.
Cliff had worked as a farmer on the family farm before moving to Tomah for four years where he worked at the local creamery. In 1949 they moved to La Crosse where he worked for Dolly Madison Creamery and later for Briggs Creamery until 1957 when they moved to Holmen. He then worked for the Holmen Creamery for several years. In later years Cliff worked as the head custodian for Onalaska High School and Fauver Hills Elementary School. After working part-time for the West Salem Tool and Die Co. he finally retired in 2005 at the age of 86.
Cliff is survived by his wife Esther of West Salem; a daughter, Debra (Francis) Fassino of Edina, MN; two nephews, James (Sue) Tucker of Morgantown, WV and Bruce (Pearl) Bauman of Ontario, WI; two nieces, Delores (Pat) Collins of Sarasota, FL and Beverly (Lee) Stenerson of DeSoto, WI., along with many grand nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Margaret Tewksbury and Stella Bauman, and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at Noon on Thursday, December 3rd at First Baptist Church, 1209 Main Street, La Crosse with Rev. Dr. Timothy Ashley officiating. Burial will follow in Mormon Coulee Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the church on Thursday from 11:00 AM until the time of services.
