Mark J. “Butch” Hill, 59 of La Crescent, MN, died on Friday, November 20, 2015 at the Gundersen Health System , La Crosse. He was born in La Crosse on April 30, 1956 to Mark D. and Janice T. (LaFleur) Hill. Butch loved to snowmobile and was active at the La Crescent Snowmobile Club for many years. He had a deep love for animals and all critters. Many will remember Butch as he drove into town on his John Deere tractor where he would love to catch up with people on the latest news and gossip. He will be dearly missed by Kim the “Baker”, Sandra Newburg and his “Mexican Train” group of Louise Hill, Pat and Ron Gruntzel and other special friends “Pee Wee” Hill, Don Hill, John Scheil and Jim Huerkamp.
In addition to his mother Janice of La Crescent, Butch is survived by one sister Debra Hill of La Crescent and one brother Brian “Buzzbe” Hill of Mound Prairie, MN. He was preceded in death by his father in 2012.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11am on Monday, November 23, 2015 at the Church of The Crucifixion in La Crescent. Rev. Gregory Havel will officiate. Burial will follow in the Crucifixion Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday from 12 noon until 2pm at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services La Crescent chapel; 111 South Oak St. Visitation will also be held at the church on Monday from 10am until the time of services. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred and will be used in Butch’s memory.
