Ramona Mary Duxbury (Hansen) of Onalaska passed away peacefully at the Gundersen Health System in La Crosse on Sunday, November 1, 2015 surrounded by her family. Mona was born on August 9, 1931 in Black River Falls, Wisconsin to Hugh and Myrtle (Beazer) Hansen. She worked as a dental assistant and for the Black River school district before marrying Don. Mona and Don were married on July 11, 1953. They have been married for 62 years. Early in their marriage Mona and Don relocated to Fort Leonard Wood, MO while Don served in the army.
In addition to her husband Don, Mona is survived by five children; Cathy Brewster, Jeff (Jean) Duxbury, Myra (Ted) Withey, Kevin (Theresa) Duxbury and Shannon Bottcher. Mona also has 13 grandchildren,18 great-grandchildren and five sisters who survive her. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Leona Leibl and a great-granddaughter, Mya Garzon.
She enjoyed her time sitting in her swing while drinking tea, visiting her family at the Coulee Golf Bowl and spending quality time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mona was a very loving, nurturing and devoted Wife, Mother and Grandmother. She will be terribly missed by her family and friends. To know Mona is to love Mona.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 AM Friday, November 6th at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Onalaska with Rev. Msgr. Steven Kachel officiating. Burial will follow in the Onalaska City Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4-7 PM at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services, 907 Sand Lake Road, Onalaska where a prayer service will be conducted at 4:00 PM. Visitation will also be held at the church on Friday from 10:30 AM until the time of services. A luncheon for family and friends will follow from 1-4 PM at the Coulee Golf Bowl.
